The Environmental Exposure and Health Research Center, led by Professor Duan Xiaoli, School of Energy and Environmental Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing(USTB), has been committed to researching environmental exposure related topics and achieved good results since its establishment,. After a series of efforts, Professor Duan Xiaoli served as the Asian branch of the International Society for Exposure Science Chairman of the 4th session (2020-2022) branch, and the ISES-AC secretariat is located in USTB.

During the critical period of epidemic prevention, members of the Environmental Exposure and Health Research Center compiled the "New Coronavirus Pneumonia Exposure Risk Prevention Manual" to provide the public with "encyclopedia-level" epidemic prevention guidance.

The International Society of Exposure Science (ISES), established in Las Vegas, USA in 1989, is a non-profit organization. The society is committed to advancing the science of exposure analysis of environmental pollutants related to human populations and ecosystems. ISES facilitates and promotes exposure science as an important link in environmental epidemiology, environmental policy formulation, the health of humans and ecosystems. It is committed to promoting, protecting and strengthening exposure science in various fields and throughout academia, government, industry and policy makers. Through scientific research, ISES recommends practical or theoretical methods, strengthens exposure assessment and analysis of the impact on environmental policies.

ISES's expertise is interdisciplinary, using a wide range of disciplines including exposure assessment, such as chemistry, biochemistry, risk assessment, biostatistics, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, ecology, environmental fate and migration, and Environmental engineering, etc. The society has a diverse membership, including academics, government and private sector scientists, scientific managers and policy makers who have common interests in the field of exposure science. In 1997, ISES held its first annual meeting. Since then, it has formed a tradition and has become a platform for scholars in the field (epidemiologists, toxicologists and other scientists) and experts from all walks of life to exchange and learn. The Society hosted the Journal of Exposure Science and Environmental Epidemiology. It mainly publishes original papers related to environmental exposure and occupational exposure. The 2019 JCR shows that its impact factor is 3.531. In addition, ISES attaches great importance to scientific research. It not only provides its members with many opportunities for study and work, but also provides scholarships for outstanding scholars.
